Associate / Senior Associate, Insurance Litigation

Our client is a leading global firm, who is looking for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our growing Insurance practice in Brisbane. The successful candidate will work on a mix of complex general insurance matters involving coverage, property liability, financial lines, 1st party property & professional indemnity (construction) issues.
The role includes handling high value, complex coverage disputes as well as having carriage of defence instructions on behalf of insurers for a range of organisations, construction professionals and corporate service providers. The role also includes handling large, subrogated recoveries.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their career working for a reputable global law firm. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of defendant insurance experience as a minimum and be able to cope with multiple deadlines at the same time.
The successful candidate will be working closely with a renown, specialist Partner, and will be involved in multi-party litigated matters, as well as running files autonomously. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with interstate offices and partners with extensive experience across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors’ and officers’ (D&O), property and construction. Examples of areas of practice:
• High value, complex coverage disputes
• 1st party property disputes and multi-party property liability claims
• Subrogated recoveries
• High value professional indemnity claims largely in defence of construction professionals
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• A strong litigator with at least 3 years’ experience in first party property disputes or multi-party property liability claims
• OR a strong litigator with at least 3 years’ experience in a defendant insurance team
• Ability to run with matters autonomously with limited supervision
• Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Methodical and organised approach to file management
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
• High level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics
• Positive attitude and an ability to work in a small, friendly team
